complete EKG and TTE normalization (see video in supplementary files). Our patient did not have any of the usual precipitating events of Tako-tsubo cardiomyopathy. The stress induced by high-intensity vomiting may have produced an increase in circulating catecholamines with direct cardiac toxicity.2 In the last 15 years, several cases of sudden cardiac death have been reported in patients with unsuspected achalasia diagnosed at autopsy.3 Although prognosis of Tako-tsubo cardiomyopathy is usually good, lifethreatening complications and sudden cardiac death may occur during the acute phase. Our case suggests that severe achalasia may be a precipitating event that can Takotsubo cardiomyopathy.

Single-patch fold-back technique for augmentation of the superior vena cava in sinus venosus atrial septal defect associated with partial anomalous pulmonary venous return.
Sinus venosus atrial septal defect (ASD) is usually associated with partial anomalous pulmonary venous return (PAPVR) of the right pulmonary veins to the superior vena cava (SVC), or to the SVC-right atrial junction. Standard procedure for repair of this defect is a patch roofing of the sinus venosus ASD and rerouting of pulmonary veins. However, the presence of SVC stenosis is a complication o...

OBJECTIVE We would like to share our experience of surgical repair of sinus venosus atrial septal defect (ASD) using a simple "transcaval repair technique." METHOD Between January 2007 and October 2010, 48 consecutive patients of sinus venosus ASD underwent surgical repair using transcaval repair technique at our institute. Their ages ranged from 5 to 15 years and male to female ratio was 1.6...

OBJECTIVE Review of intraoperative anesthetic challenges and the role of transesophageal echocardiography in children with sinus venosus atrial septal defect and partial anomalous pulmonary venous drainage undergoing Warden repair. DESIGN A retrospective observational case series. METHODOLGY: Pediatric patients who underwent Warden repair between October 2011-September 2015 were recruited. Th...
متن کاملSurgical treatment of partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection to the superior vena cava.
OBJECTIVE Surgical treatment of anomalous pulmonary venous connection to the superior vena cava, associated with sinus venous atrial septal defect, is well established and correlates with low mortality and morbidity. In order to reduce the incidence of stenosis or occlusion of the right superior vena cava, especially when associated with the presence of left superior vena cava, the right atrial...
متن کاملSinus venosus atrial septal defects: surgical follow-up.
OBJECTIVE To assess early and later results after surgery for sinus venous atrial septal defects (ASDs). METHODS Forty-four patients of sinus venosus ASDs with anomalous drainage of the right superior pulmonary vein into the superior vena cava, were operated upon between January 1985 and June 1995. Defects were approached by an incision starting from the tip of the right atrial appendage then...
